The teapot is made of a buff, speckled stoneware clay. The teapot is colored with my floating blue gloss glaze, inside and out.  The teapot is not meant for stovetop use but for brewing and serving tea or coffee.  I use one of my teapots to brew coffee with a brewing bowl and filter. However the teapot works well in the microwave. 5 minites with a full pot in the microwave makes 6 small cups  or 5 larger cups. The teapot measures 9 in x 6-3/4 in dia, x 5-1/4 in height and weighs 3 lbs 1 oz without packaging. The teapot is fairly large. If it is tipped to get the last drop, hold or remove the cover.
