This is a 2 piece planter with a separate pot and tray. It uses my new silica earthenware glaze. It has incised decoration. In the pottery biz it's called scrafitto. Because of the inlayed slip it is called by other names too. The glaze was sprayed on. I mixed a bit (that's a technical term for "I don't know how much") of my green glaze with some clear glaze in the spray gun pot. Real precise (HA!). I'm amazed again. It worked!
This pot is a little big for a windowsill but would work in a bay window, on the porch or on a table in the sun. If you didn't want to use the tray it would be good in the oven for a pie or little casserole. It's ok in a microwave if its dry. Make sure its dry if you use it in a microwave oven.
When watering a plant, pour enough water to make a little water come out in the tray. Otherwise, when gravity works on the water in the potting soil, you might get a flood
Earthen ware clay is not good if left out in freezing temperatures. Take it in for the winter or it'll spall.
The planter pot is 7 inches tall and 7-1/2 inches in diameter. The tray is 2 inches tall and 8-1/2 inches in diameter. The set weighs 4 lbs 11 0z.
