The tea pot body was glazed with Falls Creek Shino glaze, by submerging and air brushing, The clay is a speckled stoneware clay with the speckles showing thru the translucent shino glaze. The cover was glazed with Tenmoku Glaze. Tenmoku is a brown, opaque glaze so the clay speckles are masked. Both glazes are from old Japanese recipes and modified by other potters and finally modified, again, and mixed by me, I left my decoration record in the photos. It documents the troubles I have with my glazes.
The tea pot measures 11-1/4 inches across the spout and handle, 7-1/4 inches in diameter and 7-3/8 inches high. It holds slightly more than 2 quarts and weighs 3 lbs 11.3 oz. Its a big tea pot. I use my tea pots to make coffee in a drip bowl with a filter, but tea is a possibility, also.
